After an accident
After an accident: your health first
If you were in a car accident or hurt at work, the first thing is for a physician to check you if you have any warning sign. This page explains what comes next, in the order it happens.
You decide when to contact us. We do not call or write to anyone to offer care after an accident.
First things first
Severe pain, dizziness or a blow to the head: call 911 or go to an emergency room
If there are no warning signs, you choose when to come

Step by step
What comes next, in order
Step 1: 1. Emergency care
If you have any of the warning signs at the end of this page, or severe pain, call 911 or go to an emergency room. That comes before any visit with us.
Step 2: 2. An evaluation with the doctor
We talk about what happened and what you notice, we do an exam and we explain what we find. We order x-rays only when they are medically necessary.
Step 3: 3. A plan, with you
The doctor suggests a plan after the exam and changes it with you as you go. We do not promise a number of visits or a result, and you can stop at any time.
Step 4: 4. The bills, explained
In Florida, auto insurance with personal injury protection (PIP) may cover part of the care. Your policy and its deadlines are between you and your insurer; we explain what we can bill and give you a written estimate.
Step 5: 5. Your records
When you ask, we give you a copy of your records and an itemized receipt for each visit.
What we do not do
We do not promise results
Results vary from person to person.
We do not give legal advice
If you have questions about a claim, talk to your insurer or to someone you choose.
We do not ask you to come right away
You decide when to contact us, after a physician checks you if you need it.
Questions about an accident
Do I have to go to the emergency room first?
If you have severe pain, dizziness, a blow to the head or any of the warning signs, yes: call 911 or go to an emergency room. If you do not, you decide when to come.
Who pays for the visit?
It depends on your policy. It may be your auto insurance with medical coverage, your health insurance or you. Before we start we tell you what we think can be billed and what your share would be.
What should I bring?
A photo ID, the details of your auto and health insurance if you plan to use them, and any report or x-ray you already have from your doctor.
When you decide, talk to us
We explain each step and give you the costs in writing before we start.
- A sudden severe headache or neck pain, dizziness, trouble speaking or seeing, new weakness or numbness, numbness in the groin or saddle area (between the legs and buttocks), or new bladder or bowel trouble needs emergency care now. Call 911 or go to an emergency room.
